December Events 2019

Peace. As we draw to the end of each year and review the state of humanity, this is one of the foremost thoughts we may have. Are we moving toward the peaceful world we want for our children?

At the beginning of this year, the world governing body of the Faith, the Universal House of Justice, released a letter reminding us of opportunities for peace: following the “Great War” the Paris Peace Conference took place and the League of Nations was established; following the Second World War the United Nations was formed; following the end of the Cold War, there were calls for a new order and the Millennium Forum and Summit were held. Despite the forces of division, unity and peace is where humanity is headed.

In 1985, as a contribution to dialogue about the upcoming Year of Peace, the House of Justice released a letter to the people of the world, “The Promise of World Peace”, which reflects the challenges as well as Bahá’í teachings on the way forward toward building a peaceful world.
