The Voice of God Calls: On an island in the Tigris River, roses filled the air with perfume, and the music of birds was unceasing. The momentous Declaration of Bahá’u’lláh occurred in that glorious springtime garden called Ridván (which is pronounced rezz-von and means paradise). Bahá’u’lláh stayed there in a tent for 12 days during April 1863. There He declared to a small number of people that He was God’s most recent Divine Teacher. Each year Bahá’ís commemorate these joyous, significant days, the “Festival of God,”  the beginning of the Faith, this year being observed April 20th through May 1st. Read more here.
