June Activities 2021
We can certainly feel summer now, including in our lightening hearts! While thinking about the hope that helps empower us, we did a search for "hope" on bahaiteachings.org. Over 1500 results! Among them, writer Ken McNamara shares his thoughts about “Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah.” He says it "helps me develop my understanding of Baha’i philosophy, and brings me a deep sense of joy and peace as I discover some of the spiritual truths." Themes he focuses on are this Day of God, the Manifestations of God, the spiritual meaning of life, the immortality of the soul, and our future unified and just world. A link to read this foundational Bahá’í book for free online is at the bottom of the article. You may also find free e-book downloads in ePub and mobi/Kindle formats.
Learning opportunities have increased over this past year which will aid all of us. To learn about the Bahá’í Faith, one option may be your local public library. For example, the Washington County system has books and DVDs including The Promulgation of Universal Peace (collected talks by ‘Abdu’l-Bahá as He traveled across North America in 1912), Light of the Kingdom (Biblical topics), and No Jim Crow Church - the Origins of South Carolina's Bahá'í Community since 1910, Advancement of Women, Life, Death, and Immortality, and Beyond the Culture of Contest. (Hint: search "Bahai")
