Twin Holy Day celebrations will be happening around the world November 2nd and 3rd! You are most warmly invited to the local activities below.

Selected activities: See more on the calendar. The Portland, Beaverton, and Vancouver Bahá'í Centers each host weekly in-person devotional gatherings on Sunday, and there are many virtual gatherings.

Online Dialog: The Divine Art of Living

Friday Nov. 1 and 15, 7:00-8:00 pm. Please join our book study - The Divine Art of Living: Selections from the Writings of Baha'u'llah and Abdu'l-Baha. You do not need to have the book or do any homework; we will read and discuss a few passages together each time we meet. Come to one or every meeting. Holy Day Celebration: Birth of the Báb

Saturday Nov. 2, 4:00-6:30 pm. Bahá’í Center, 8720 N Ivanhoe St, Portland, OR 97203. Devotions and a potluck dinner to enjoy together. Followed by the celebration of the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh.

Holy Day Celebration: Beaverton Bahá’í Center

Saturday Nov. 2, 5-8:00 pm. Bahá’í Center, 5355 SW Murray Blvd, Beaverton, OR 97005. You are joyfully invited to celebrate two Holy Days with us on Saturday, November 2nd. The Twin Holy Days are to celebrate the anniversary of the births of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh, the two central figures of the Baháʼí Faith. The celebration will start with a program to celebrate the Birth of the Báb first at 5:00 PM, followed by a potluck dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by another program for the Birth of Bahá’u’lláh at 7:00 PM. As always at the Center there are no donations.

Author Talk: Sidney Morrison

Friday Nov. 8, 7:00-8:30 pm. Portland Bahá’í Center, 8720 N Ivanhoe St, Portland, OR 97203. Sidney Morrison's (L.A. Bahá'í) new historical novel on the life of Frederick Douglass has been out for a few months now.  He will be at the Portland Bahá'í Center to give a talk about Frederick Douglass. He dedicated his life to racial equality and Sidney’s novel is an homage to him as a major figure in U.S. and African American history. This talk is  about the connection Sidney has drawn between Douglass and Bahá'u'lláh, who were contemporaries in the 19th century. We hope to have "Frederick Douglass: a Novel" available for sale (and signing!)
Note: Sidney will also be speaking at the Oregon Historical Society on Thursday November 7th at 7 pm.
