Registration is now open for the Oregon Badasht Bahá'í Summer School, August 10-15, 2010. All are welcome to attend. The theme for the conference is "Choose For Yourself a Noble Goal."
This year's Badasht Bahá'í Summer School promises to be a truly distinctive experience. Keynote presenters include distinguished guests Sonlla Heern, Evelyn Delgado, Hal Sexton and Fred Delgado.
There will be workshops for all age groups and the schedule is designed to foster the "building of spiritual community" based on the themes in Mr. Paul Lample's book "Revelation and Social Reality." The integrated schedule will promote a high degree of interaction, as we all learn how to become positive "change agents."
Oregon Badasht Bahá'í Summer School is held at Camp Myrtlewood, off Hwy 42 between Roseburg and Coos Bay - a beautiful, peaceful and remote setting and a truly restful hideaway.

What is Badasht?
Badasht was a hamlet in northern Persia in the mid 1800s (northern Iran). It was in this spot in the summer of 1848, that 81 early followers of The Báb (Forerunner of Bahá'u'lláh, Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith) gathered to listen to what would be required of the followers of Islam in preparation for the coming of the Promised One of all Ages.
"That memorable day and those which immediately followed it witnessed the most revolutionary changes in the life and habits of the assembled followers of the Báb. Their manner of worship underwent a sudden and fundamental transformation. The prayers and ceremonials by which those devout worshippers had been disciplined were irrevocably discarded...The obsolete conventions which had fettered the consciences of men were boldly challenged and fearlessly swept away. The way was clear for the proclamation of the laws and precepts that were destined to usher in the new Dispensation."

This Bahá'í Summer School in Oregon took the name of Badasht to commemorate that striking and decisive occasion when the truly faithful were separated from those whose faith had been lost, in the hopes that the experience of the school will be life-changing and always remembered.
