Outer East Portland is building momentum

“Our children’s class has grown quite a bit in numbers—both Baha’is and friends.  We usually start with music and then have a short lesson for the large group. Our teacher, Jinai, has been focusing on the concept of reverence and the oneness of religion. Then we often break into two groups so the older kids can do a more challenging lesson (usually taught by Becky Albright), while the younger ones stay for a story. The group reconvenes for an art activity.  Right now they are working on paper machê globes and cutting out diverse people to display on them.

“As for our devotional gathering, we meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month and have, so far, just had Baha'i friends joining us.  We continue to think about new people to invite and new ways to invite them. We feel that consistency is important regardless.”
~ Brendon

“We have been hosting a regular devotional gathering at our home since July 2005. Thanks to our friends' support we have held this monthly gathering, with the exception of two months, on the first Wednesday of the month. We start our gathering with prayers and writings from Sacred Writings selected from various backgrounds and religions, followed by a traditional potluck dinner. We actively invite our friends, neighbors, colleagues and family members to attend.  Since we have become the proud parents of our little Neda, now a two year old toddler, our goal is to offer our guests a family friendly environment.”
