Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program
On Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2016, at the Lake Oswego Public Library, a group of Lake Oswego Bahá’í children, junior youth, and youth, joined by some additional young friends, presented a program to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The young participants read a number of inspirational quotes by King, as well as longer passages, including the “I Have a Dream” speech.

In addition to the readings, several musical numbers were offered, some with keyboard and drum accompaniment: “Amazing Grace,” a medley of “Swing Low”/”Peace Like a River,” “Siyahamba,” and “Morokeni,” a lively call and response greeting song of African tribal origin.

In his May 1912 Fanwood New Jersey Town Hall talk, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, son of the Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, said:
...the Prophets of God have come to unite the children of men and not to disperse them, to establish the law of love and not enmity. Consequently, we must lay aside all prejudice -- whether it be religious, racial, political or patriotic; we must become the cause of the unification of the human race.
Strive for universal peace, seek the means of love, and destroy the basis of disagreement so that this material world may become divine, the world of matter become the realm of the Kingdom and humanity attain to the world of perfection.
