Oregon Baha'i Summer School is open to everyone
Registration is now open for the Oregon Badasht Bahá'í Summer School, August 10-15, 2010. All are welcome to attend. The theme for the conference is "Choose For Yourself a Noble Goal." This year's Badasht Bahá'í Summer School promises to be a truly distinctive experience. There will be workshops for all age groups and the schedule is designed to foster the "building of spiritual community."
Spiritual Virtues Summer Camp gears up for August
In August, the Spiritual Virtues Summer Camp will take place once again at the Beaverton Baha’i Center. This camp teaches children about various virtues from the myriad of faith traditions, helps them explore these virtues through the arts and learn how to implement them in their daily lives. Parents are also welcome to participate. The camp will take place August 2-5, 2010.
Fourth court date for imprisoned Baha'i leaders set for 12 June
GENEVA — The seven Baha'i leaders imprisoned for more than two years in Iran are scheduled to make their fourth court appearance on 12 June, the Baha'i International Community has learned.The date coincides with the first anniversary of last year's contested presidential election in Iran, as well as a global day of action aimed at calling attention to human rights abuses in that country.

Baha’is commemorate Ascension of Baha’u’llah
May 29 marks the anniversary of the Ascension of Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith. The day is one of nine holy days in the Baha'i calendar when Baha'is suspend work and school. An observance will be held at the Beaverton Baha'i Center at 3:45 am on Saturday May 29, 2010. Breakfast will be served following the program.
Portland Baha'is mourn the loss of a dear friend
A friend to all he met, Paul gladly shared his home with many family members and friends and made everyone feel welcome. He had a reputation for generous and elegant hospitality. A memorial service will be held at the Portland Baha’i Center on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at noon. All are welcome.
IAN Faith Forum: Faith & Healing
Join us April 7, 2010 for the 2010 Community Faith Forum. Faith community volunteers are stepping up and providing more service to those in need. The 2010 Faith Forum is offering a special workshop that will focus on how we can keep our volunteers inspired and valued. Keynote Speaker Rev. Dr. Roy Green, will invite us to explore what it means to be a compassionate community with story, teaching, personal reflection, and exploration of six sacred questions for promoting spiritual health. Three special sessions will be offered.
Happy Naw Ruz!
Baha'is celebrate their new year at the beginning of spring. Naw Ruz (which means "new day" in Persian) begins at sunset on the last day of the Baha'i Fast (March 20) and lasts through sunset on March 21. It is celebrated around the world with parties, prayers and joyful festivities.
